Blue Gorilla doesn't sell email. One white-label send booked their client 12 meetings.
A 20-year digital agency had a client who needed a big email push. We sent it as them. It worked so well the client asked us to turn it off. Here's the whole thing, including the part where we broke our own rule.

02 / Who they are
An agency that's great at data and media, with one gap
Blue Gorilla Digital is a digital marketing agency in Jupiter, Florida. Ron Scirrotto has run it for close to 20 years. Most of their clients are car dealers, plus lifestyle brands and service businesses.
They do two things better than most agencies I've met.
Intent data.Ron subscribes to a platform that scores every contact low, medium or high intent and gives him the full record: name, mobile, personal and business email, LinkedIn, address, income band, job title, company size. He pulls by zip code, state or county and by date, down to the last 7 or 14 days.
AI media.Their own in-house AI production. Not a stock avatar tool. Ron's team builds commercials, social videos and now personalized sales videos from a single recording of the real person.
The gap was sending. Ron's own system tops out around 5,000 emails. Above that, cold HTML email with tracking in it goes straight to spam on a normal email tool. "You'll get shut down by Mailchimp in seconds," is how he put it to a client.

03 / The client
A federal procurement platform with one announcement to make
The client stays unnamed here. They don't know Blue Gorilla sent through us and that's the point of white label.
They run a procurement platform for companies that sell to federal agencies. They had just launched a new product catalog for those suppliers and wanted every one of them to hear about it. Ron pulled a list of 52,000 suppliers who do business with the government.
The founder recorded one video. Blue Gorilla's AI turned it into a different video for every single person on the list, with the pitch adjusted to what the data said about that prospect.

Their worryToo many replies at once. Every response landed on the founder's calendar
04 / The challenge
Send it big, but don't bury the founder
Ron sent us the list and the creative on a Thursday. The client wanted it out fast. He also knew exactly what a big send could do to his week.
"He is afraid of getting inundated, since response is tied to his calendar, so can we just push out 10k and wait until he sees the response before deploying the rest?"
Ron Scirrotto, by email, the day before the first send
That's a good instinct and it's the one most people skip. So the plan was 10,000, look, then 10,000 more, then the rest of the list.
The other problem was ours to solve. This wasn't a plain text email. It was a designed HTML email with images, a video button and open and click tracking on. In B2B cold email that's normally the thing I tell people not to do.
05 / How we tackled it
Blue Gorilla brought the list and the media. We brought the engine.
This is what a white-label send looks like when the agency is good at their half.

Each row carried its own video link. We injected it as a variable so every email pointed at that prospect's video. Full HTML, sent as the client, opens and clicks tracked.

When a prospect clicked the button, the link carried their tracking, pulled their record and played the video made for them. Ron told me it was generated before I watched one. I still couldn't tell.
"I injected that video as a variable in the email, and that's what booked all those meetings."

Twelve meetings off one announcement. About one in every 14 people who clicked through booked a call. For a founder who takes every meeting himself, that's a full week gone in a weekend.
How much of the list we got through
Stopped here
20,000 sent52,000 on the list
The plan was to work through all 52,000. After the second wave Ron asked us to stop. The client was booked solid and couldn't take any more. We never sent the other 32,000.
I've turned campaigns off for a lot of reasons. Too many meetings is the one I'll take every time.
07 / Why it worked
Three things lined up. One of them was Blue Gorilla's list.
What Blue Gorilla did
A clean list. Every record validated, every field present. Fewer than 3 in 100 bounced on a cold send. On a bought list you'd expect a lot more.
The right 52,000. Intent-scored suppliers who already sell to the government. The offer was built for exactly them.
A video that felt personal. Not "Hi {first name}". A pitch shaped around what the data said about that company.
What we did
Sent it as the client. A lookalike domain, the client's name, every link landing on their page. Nobody saw us.
Got HTML with tracking into the inbox. Our sending infrastructure handles images, buttons and pixels that would sink a normal cold email tool.
Paced it. Two waves, a pause, a read. The client set the speed, not the list size.
Here's the part where we broke our own rule. For B2B cold email I usually say plain text, no images, no tracking, because business buyers are trained to never click a link. This was B2B, full HTML with tracking on. It still booked 12.
I think the reason is that the video did the selling. A one-line email can't carry a new product launch. A 60-second video from the founder, made for you, can. The email's only job was to get them to press play.
That said, I'd still default to plain text for most B2B sends. This worked because the list was right and the video was good. Take either one away and I'd expect a normal result.
08 / If you run an agency
You don't have to build email to sell email
Ron's situation is common. Agencies get asked for things they don't offer. Email is the big one, because doing it right means infrastructure, deliverability, list cleaning and reporting that nobody wants to build for one client.
The usual answer is "we don't do that" and the client goes and finds someone who does. Sometimes they find a whole new agency.
You keep
The client relationship
The list, the data and the creative
The credit. The send goes out as the client, reporting is branded to you
Your margin on top of our cost
We carry
Sending infrastructure that handles cold HTML, images and tracking
List cleaning and spam-trap screening before anything goes out
A portal for every client you add, with sends, opens and clicks live
Launch inside a few days from copy and list
Blue Gorilla has sent three client campaigns through us so far. Results like this aren't the norm and I'm not going to pretend they are. The norm is that your client gets a send they couldn't do themselves and you get to say yes.
"James, we're gonna do a lot of business together."

09 / What we'd do next time
Six lessons
Ask about capacity before volume.Ron asked how many meetings the founder could take. That question saved the campaign. Send to the calendar, not to the list size.
Pace big sends in waves.10,000, read, 10,000, read. You lose a day. You don't lose a client who got buried.
The list is most of it.Under 1% dirty, every field filled, intent-scored. Great creative on a bad list is a bounce report.
Personalize the thing that sells, not the greeting.A video built around the prospect beat a merged first name. If you can only personalize one thing, make it the pitch.
Rules have exceptions. Earn them.HTML with tracking in B2B worked here because the video carried it. Don't copy the format without the reason.
If you're an agency, partner on the gap.Ron didn't build an email product. He brought a list and a video and said yes to his client. That's the whole move.
